Synod of Bishops 2021-23 On Sunday, 17th October, dioceses around the world will launch local preparations for the Synod of Bishops, which has the theme: The Catholic Church in Australia will invite the People of God to make submissions via an online portal that will open on 17th October. A page on the Bishops Conference website has been set up as a hub for Synod of Bishops content. It has links to the preparatory document and vademecum (handbook) for the Synod, and a video produced by the Sydney Centre for Evangelisation explaining the Synod process. Given the significant interest in the Synod of Bishops and its relationship with the Fifth Plenary Council of Australia, there is a document on that web page showing the anticipated timelines and milestones for those two important journeys. Those submissions will help the bishops develop a national report to support the global process leading to an international gathering in 2023. Below are a number of resources about the Synod of Bishops. |
